"The Music of France"
the Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble!
Since 2003, the Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble has offered Oklahoma audiences a regular season of chamber music performances presented by an ensemble of musicians largely based in the Oklahoma City metro area and special guest artists. This past June the Society presented its third annual Spring Festival, a four-concert event entitled “The Music of France." Chamber ensemble combinations include voice and instrumental duos, trios and quartets and feature works by a range of French composers writing in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Performance Oklahoma presents all of this season’s Festival performances in three broadcast programs to be offered in the final three weeks of July,on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings on Classical KUCO and Saturday evenings on Classical KWTU, both evening and morning broadcasts at 8!
The second program of three opens with performances from Festival concert 3 entitled “French Winds and Strings” of Syrinx for Solo Flute by Claude Debussy, the Sonata for Flute and Piano by Francis Poulenc and Camille Saint-Saëns’ Tarantella Op 6. Rounding out the first half of the program are performances of Tzigane by Maurice Ravel from Concert 2 and the composer's Piano Trio in a minor which closed Concert 3. Returning to Concert 1 “The French Clarinet” to open the second half, we’ll hear performances of the Andante et Allegro by Ernest Chausson and the Variations sur un air du pays d'Oc by Louis Cahuzac. And to close the program, we return to Concert 3 for the Trio for Oboe, Clarinet and Piano by Edouard Destenay.
Tune in at 8 on Wednesday evening, July 23rd and Saturday morning, July 26th on Classical KUCO and Saturday evening, July 26th at 8 on Classical KWTU!
