"Souvenirs for an Archduke" with Gloria Chien


The Brightmusic Society of Oklahoma opened their eleventh season of concerts with a program entitled “Souvenirs for an Archduke.”  Offered in duo venues:  Monday, September 16th at All Soul’s Episcopal Church and Tuesday, September 17th the program featured returning guest pianist Gloria Chien and excerpts from the charming and elegant Souvenirs: Suite for Piano Four Hands Op 28 by Samuel Barber, Ludwig van Beethoven's noble and heroic Piano Trio No. 7 in B-flat Major, Op 97 (Archduke)  and the lushly romantic and dramatic Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op 15 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.  Gloria Chien offers commentary about the music, collaborating with Brightmusic musicians, and her special affinity for performing chamber music.  A delightful evening of music spotlighting the piano in chamber ensemble settings.  Tune in at 8, Wednesday evening, January 15th and Saturday morning, January 18th here on KCSC and on Saturday evening, January 18th on Public Radio Tulsa's KWTU!
