Performance Oklahoma

with pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet!

Tracing its roots to the city’s first professional orchestra in 1924, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic formed in 1988 under the musical direction of Joel Levine with the help of dedicated civic leaders and corporations and marks it's 26th year this season.  With performances from September through May, the Philharmonic presents a series of eight Classics concerts and six pairs of Pops concerts each season and offers regional performances and many educational outreach concerts, including the Discovery Series and Youth Concerts to area school children and families.

One of the world's most acclaimed pianists, Jean-Yves Thibaudet joined the OKC Philharmonic for the first concert of 2015, Classics 4 on Saturday, January 10th at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City.  Renowned especially for his performances of French repertoire, Mr. Thibaudet was featured in the Piano Concerto No. 5 in F Major, Op 103 "The Egyptian" by Camille Saint-Saëns.  Also on the program entitled "A Little Romance," the Philharmonic offered Mozart's Serenade No 13 in G Major for Strings "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" and the Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op 30 "Romantic." Jean-Yves Thibaudet  shares his insights about the French tradition of keyboard performance,  Camille Saint-Saëns and his fifth piano concerto, his special pleasure in returning to Oklahoma and his passion for recording for films. (Broadcast: Wednesday evening only at 8pm on Classical KUCO
