on Performance Oklahoma!

Violinist Joshua Bell

and pianist Sam Haywood

from Armstrong Auditorium ENCORE!

One of the most celebrated violinists of our time, Joshua Bell is known for his restless curiosity, passion, and multi-faceted musical interests.  His 2015 Fall season includes several concerto appearances with American orchestras, a series of concerts across Europe with The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and a US recital tour with pianist Sam Haywood; the two musicians appearing at Armstrong Auditorium on Thursday, October 22nd offering works by Tomaso Vitali, Ludwig van Beethoven, César Franck, Fritz Kreisler and Henryk Wieniawski, the program paying tribute to one of the most influential American violinists and teachers of the 20th century, Josef Gingold.  Performance Oklahoma presents the complete recital as well as engaging commentary from both artists!

The mission of the Armstrong International Cultural Foundation’s Performing Arts Series is to champion Oklahoma as a world-class center for the arts. The foundation began sponsoring a small performing arts series in 1998 on the campus of Armstrong College located in north Edmond. Since then, the series has grown significantly leading to the construction of the 823 seat Armstrong Auditorium in 2008, and opening in September of 2010.  In May of 2014 it received a Red Bud award as "Outstanding New Attraction" by the Oklahoma Travel Industry and now celebrates its sixth season of performances.
