On Monday, March 10th at all Soul's Episcopal Church and on Tuesday, March 11th at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, the Brightmusic Society of Oklahoma offered their fourth series of concerts this season featuring Oklahoma's own! special guest cellist Joshua Roman. In this program we'll hear Felix Mendelssohn's second piano trio ("Doxology") and Franz Schubert's "Transcendental" String Quintet in C Major. Joshua and guest pianist Stephen Buck offer commentary and joining them in these performances from the Brightmusic Society of Oklahoma, violinists Gregory Lee and Samuel Formicola, violist Mark Neumann and cellist Tomasz Zieba.
Following the Brightmusic program Performance Oklahoma offers a preview of next week's program celebrating the guest residency of A merican composer David Maslanka at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Central Oklahoma this past March. We'll hear an excerpt of commentary from the composer and his work Beloved offered by UCO pianist Tyler King.
And to round out the hour University of Central Oklahoma Artist in Residence Valery Kuleshov plays the Nocturne Les Les cloches de Genève by Franz Liszt, from the Première Annee Suisse of Liszt's Années de pèlerinage appearing in the final recital of the Piano Artist Series on Sunday April 27th.
