The Oklahoma City Philharmonic

On Saturday, November 16th, pianist Garrick Ohlsson joined the Oklahoma City Philharmonic for their third Classics concert of the season performing the astonishingly dramatic first piano concerto of Johannes Brahms.  Considered one of the finest pianists of his generation, Garrick Ohlsson has pursued a distinguished global career and is celebrated for his masterly performances of repertoire spanning across the piano repertoire.   The program, entitled Legends also features Edvard Grieg's  Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 and the first Mephisto Waltz by Franz Liszt.  Mr. Ohlsson offers fascinating commentary about Brahms and the d minor concerto as well as American composer Charles Tomlinson Griffes.   Hear this concert and commentary from Garrick Ohlsson on Wednesday, December 11th on Classical KCSC/KBCW!

2012 OKM International Festival

Chamber Music Series


Performance Oklahoma presents editions 5 and 6 from the 2012 OK Mozart International Festival Chamber Music series.  In the first hour, devoted to music by Robert Schumann cellist Peter Wiley and pianist Anna Polonsky performt the composer’s Drei Fantasiestucke Op 73 and the Adagio and Allegro Op 70 and mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and baritone Kelly Markgraf join pianist Orion Weiss to present a duet and six songs.  And in the second hour cellist Peter Wiley returns with violinist Ani Kavafian and violist Paul Neubauer to play the String Trio by Jean Francaix.  Pianist Orion Weiss joins Peter and Paul to offer the alternative version of the a minor Trio of Johannes Brahms and mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and pianist Anna Polonsky present Im Fruhling by Franz Schubert.  All of the musicians join host Kimberly Powell to offer insightful commentary. Tune in at 8pm on Classical 88.7
