Spotlight on the arts is KUCO’s weekly program celebrating Oklahoma’s vibrant arts community, offering interviews with guests, exploring individual artistic endeavor, upcoming concerts, events and exhibits, and learning more about the arts organizations that serve our community.

This week’s Spotlight on the Arts (Thursday, March 9 at 10 a.m.) welcomes Scott Hale, director of marketing and communications from the University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Fine arts and Design; Anna Chenoweth, co-chair for Oklahoma Flute Society’s Flute Fair; and Warren “Puffer” Jones, director of the Kemp Concert Series featuring The Concordia Choir.

This week, Spotlight on the Arts talks with Dr. Randi Von Ellefson and Scott Guthrie of Canterbury Voices on the March 9 performance of Dave Brubeck’s To Hope! A Celebration at the Civic Center Music Hall; Executive Director Mark Blakeman with The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts at Oklahoma State University; and Alexander Mickelthwate, music director and principal conductor of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic on its March 4 Classics Performance, Sight & Sound featuring Every Glennie. 

This week, Spotlight on the Arts welcomes Oklahoma City Mayor, David Holt to talk about the arts, his perspective, and what’s next for our state capital.

This week, Spotlight on the Arts welcomes Christine Mueller, Director of the OKC Public Schools Visual and Performing Arts Department, Gloria Tham-Haines, President of the Piano Artist Series Foundation, conductor of the OCU Opera and Musical Theatre Company Jan McDaniel, with guest stage and opera conductor Cynthia Stokes, and Phyllis Smith, euphonium player and spokesperson for the OKC Symphonic Band.

This week, Spotlight host Kimberly Powell speaks to Scott Hale, Director of Marketing for the College of Fine Arts & Design at the University of Central Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras’ Artistic Director and conductor Jeffrey Grogan, Kaleb Benda, Music Director and Conductor of the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony & Clint Williams, the OKCS Composer in Residence, and Violist Royce McLarry, on behalf of Chamber Music in Oklahoma.

This week, Spotlight on the Arts will welcome guest Mark Blakeman, the executive director of the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts at OSU. Join KUCO host Kimberly Powell at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 for Spotlight on the Arts.

Classical KUCO host Kimberly Powell speaks with Warren Puffer Jones, director of the Kemp Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, on this week’s edition of Spotlight on the arts. Tune in at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 19.

KUCO’s Spotlight on the Arts welcomes co-artistic director Chad Burrow from the Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble, Jamie Whitmarsh, the executive director of the Oklahoma Modern Music Collective, the Norman Philharmonic’s artistic director Richard Zielinski, program manager Ryan Malone from Armstrong Auditorium and the Piano Artist Series Foundation’s President, Gloria Tham-Haines.

KUCO’s Spotlight on the arts kicks off 2023 with host Kimberly Powell and guests Alexander Mickelthwate, music director of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Paseo Arts Association’s executive director Amanda Bleakley, and director Jeremiah Davis from Oklahoma Contemporary
