Debussy:  Pelleas et Melisande, January 19
Maeterlinck's play was set without editing by Debussy, and remains one of the most important works of French music theater of the early 20th century. Paul Appleby and Isabel Leonard are the title characters, with Kyle Ketelsen as Melisande's husband Golaud and Ferrucio Furlanetto as the grandfather of both the men. The broadcast begins half an hour early (11:30 a.m.)

The radio broadcast is the audio version of the HD broadcast taking place at the same time at movie theaters. The heroine is a historical actress famous in French history and is sung by Anna Netrebko, with Piotr Beczala as Maurizio and Anita Rachvelishvili as the Princess de Bouillon who sends poisoned flowers to her benefactress.

Verdi's setting of the Shakespeare play as rewritten in Italian by Arrigo Boito.
Stewart Skelton is Otello, Sonya Yoncheva is his wife Desdemona, and Zeljko Lucic is the villain Iago.

This is the audio version of the HD broadcast from earlier this season on October 27, 2018. Eva-Maria Westbroek is the heroine Minnie.

Set in the 1850's, contemporary with the world premiere, the production is another version of Violetta remembering her life on her deathbed.

After 18 years, Mefistofele returns with Angela Meade and Michael Fabiano as Margherita and Faust and Christian van Horn in the title role as the Devil himself. Jennifer Check signs Helen of Troy.

Giordano: Andrea Chenier. 13 October

Giordano:  Andrea Chenier.  13 October
The great verismo opera about the French Revolution has never caught on in Paris, but remains Giordano's masterpiece. Chenier was a historical figure, a poet who was killed during the Reign of Terror, and is sung by Yonghoon Lee. Anna Pirozzi is Maddalena di Coigny, a young noblewoman who falls for Chenier and George Gagnidze is the member of the Tribunal whose desire for Maddalena brings about the deaths of both Chenier and Maddalena.
