The abbé Prévost's l’Histoire du Chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut served as inspiration for Massenet’s Manon; a portrait of the French Regency era. Manon (Pretty Yende) steers a course, escaping the convent only throw herself headlong into a passionate, yet self-destructive love affair with Des Grieux (Benjamin Bernheim).
