The King's Singers ENCORE

from Armstrong Auditorium!

Acclaimed for their virtuosity and irresistible  charm, The King’s Singers are admired for their musical excellence and recognized as consummate entertainers; their work appealing to a diverse international audience.  They perform over 120 concerts each year, touring regularly to Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia. Since their founding at King's College in Cambridge in 1968, they have premiered more than 200 new works and are double Grammy® award-winning artists, honored in 2009 for their Signum Classics release, Simple Gifts, and again in 2012 for their contribution to Eric Whitacre’s Light & Gold album on Decca. In June 2013 they  were chosen as one of  only two vocal ensembles to enter the Gramophone Hall of Fame, honored for their unique discography of over 150 albums.

Before appearing at the American Choral Directors Association conference in Salt Lake City, where they gave the world premier of a new work by Jake Heggie, the ensemble made a stop at Armstrong Auditorium on Tuesday, February 24th of 2015, presenting a diverse and distinctive program emblematic of their concert style, and featuring English Renaissance madrigals by Morley and Weelkes, French chansons by Debussy and Saint-Saëns, a contemporary setting of English limericks by Petrassi, four popular American songs of the 20th century and Postcards:  five selected songs from around the world.  Bass Jonathan Howard offers delightful commentary and we'll hear ensemble members speak from the stage!
