Concert 5 "A Grand Night for Winds"

On Tuesday, May 2nd, the Brightmusic Society of Oklahoma welcomed special guest conductor Michael Haithcock to the final concert of the regular season, showcasing the artistry and virtuosity of the ensemble’s wind players with two masterpiece works in the repertoire, the Serenade for Winds in d minor, Op 44 by Antonin Dvorak and the Serenade No. 10 in B-flat Major, K 361  "Gran Partita" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, maestro Haithcock offering his insights about this unusual concert and its music.   Dr. Haithcock assumed his duties as Director of Bands and Professor of Music in Conducting at the University of Michigan in the fall of 2001 following twenty-three years on the faculty of Baylor University.   In constant demand as a guest conductor and as a resource person for symposiums and workshops, Michael Haithcock continues to make concert, festival and all-state appearances across the US.
