Associate conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Michelle Merrill made her OKC Philharmonic debut on Saturday, November 11th leading the orchestra in the third concert of the ensemble’s 29th season of performances and offering a varied program of works including the flute concerto in d major by Carl Reinecke featuring guest flutist Yossi Arnheim, the principal flutist of the Israel Philharmonic, in a collaboration with the Oklahoma Israel Exchange, who celebrate with this concert their 25th anniversary, works by two prominent Jewish composers, the suite from the ballet Appalachian Spring of Aaron Copland and Gyorgy Ligeti’s Concert Romanesc as well as a suite from the ballet The Incredible Flutist by Walter Piston.
